This is the time of the year where everyone is running around, spending more and more money, juggling work, personal life with social events with friends and family...

Life is full of deadlines, frustrations and demands. It is so common place to feel stress that it has become a way of life. In small doses, stress can help you perform under pressure and motivate you to do your best. But when you are running in overdrive all the time it can lead to health problems both physically and emotionally!

Many health problems are caused or exacerbated by stress, including:

  • Pain of any kind
  • Heart disease
  • Digestive problems
  • Sleep problems
  • Depression
  • Obesity
  • Autoimmune diseases
  • Skin conditions, such as eczema

No matter what stresses you one thing is for sure is that controlling or at least reducing the amounts of stress you feel is paramount! Tons of stress reduction products are available such as recordings of relaxing nature sounds or ambient music or even hypnosis mp3 or CDs such as the ones available from our own site or even a visit to your local hypnotist or hypnotherapist. In my office I teach my client self-hypnosis techniques as well as other relaxation techniques the clients can take home with them. When choosing a local hypnotherapist ask them if they offer to teach you self-hypnosis or if they have seminars where you can learn the techniques that can help you manage and reduce your stress.

3 simple things to keep in mind:

Plan your time to include a relaxation session.
Lets say you have chosen self-hypnosis, doing it in the morning after being up and started your daily routine is the best you can do before you get distracted by something else. Yet it is done once you have woken up enough to not fall right back asleep.

Don’t practice when you’re sleepy.  As pointed out in the previous statement, you will get the most out of these techniques if you practice when you’re fully awake and alert.

Choose a technique that appeals to you. There is no single relaxation technique that is best. When choosing a relaxation technique, consider your specific needs, it could be self-hypnosis, yoga, guided meditation or anything that works well for you.

I would enjoy any feedback or comments you may have and am wishing you health and peace for the holidays!

Happy new year!
